Jerusalem Attractions
Jerusalem is situated on a mountain range separating between the the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea at an elevation of 750m above sea level. Its history dates back 4000 years, and is sacred to the religions of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. It has been attacked, besieged, conquered and destroyed by foreign powers of antiquity: Judah (Jewish nation), Babylon, Persia, Macedonia, Roman, Byzantine, Crusaders, Arab Caliphates, Ottoman, and British, to name a few. Today it is a vibrant city and the capital of modern day Israel.
Among its main attractions are the Old City with its four quarters (Muslim, Jewish, Christian, and Armenian), including the main religious sites of the Western Wall, the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Via Dolorosa; its outdoor markets, especially the colorful Mahne Yehuda and the nearby Jaffo Street; Museums covering its history, people, and of course arts; its diverse neighborhoods, and lively night scene.
Jerusalem is an exhilarating city to visit, and will serve as a complementary site for an exciting OMN conference and its attractive social program. You are encouraged to attend OMN this summer and experience the unique and fascinating sites in Jerusalem.
